Escape and join Blue Planet for a long weekend of diving in Puerto Morelos! One of the most pristine and authentic dive destinations in the Mexican Caribbean, Puerto Morelos offers incredible biodiversity, healthy reefs, calm waters, and a guaranteed good time.
Puerto Morelos
Located just 30 minutes south of Cancún, this peaceful fishing village has preserved its laid-back coastal identity, allowing its natural surroundings to remain in excellent condition. The choice of activities are boundless: stunning white-sand beaches, turquoise waters, friendly locals, fresh seafood eateries, nearby cenotes, and a relaxed world where everybody has a place under the sun. But the diving takes center stage...
The Diving
Perfect for both new and experienced divers. Finish your Open Water Diver certification!
Most dive sites are found within the protected boundaries of the National Reef Park of Puerto Morelos, which forms a vital part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System, the second largest barrier reef system in the world.
The marine park houses over 65 types of stony corals and more than 500 fish species. Divers often encounter sea turtles, eagle rays, nurse sharks, moray eels, and a kaleidoscope of Tropical Western Caribbean reef fish. From shallow coral gardens and the legendary C-56 wreck, there is something here for every skill level.
Hotel Marina El Cid Spa and Beach Resort
El Cid is a beautiful, all-inclusive property located along the tranquil Caribbean waters of Puerto Morelos. It perfectly blends luxury and adventure. When you aren't underwater, you can kick back by the massive 22,000-sq ft pool featuring cascading waterfalls, visit the swim-up bar, or indulge in world-class gastronomy at the resort's various restaurants and lounges.

Plan to arrive in Cancún (CUN) on Friday, July 31. Puerto Morelos is a quick 20-minute drive from the airport. When leaving, choose any flight that leaves after 1 PM on Wednesday, August 5th. Call the shop for details or questions on flights.

See Add On
Fly into Cancun and take a quick ride to the small town of Puerto Morelos. Check into our home for the next few days, say hello at the dive shop and enjoy the sunset on the beach.
Ease into the morning and then be at the shop by noon for our first day of diving! We'll do 2 dives on the local coral reefs.
Grab our add-on trip to snorkel with whale sharks! This full-day, all-inclusive experience is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to observe massive whale sharks feeding off-shore and even hop in the water to snorkel alongside them. We may get lucky and spot mantas too!
Now that you know the ropes, we'll head out early for 2-tank morning boat dives on the local reefs. We may be able to add some afternoon dives or even a night dive!
If you're flying home Wednesday, this will be out last morning of diving. Then you can spend your afternoon blissfully soaking up all the vacation goodness you can.
Pack up and head to the airport, full of gratitude for some time underwater and all your new dive buddies. 🥲 OR stick around for the rest of the week and dive some more! Cenotes, anyone??
